Pancakes

A pancake is a flat cake , prepared from starch based batter that may contain eggs, milk, butter and cooked on griddles or pan using butter.

Pancakes may be served at any time of the day with a variety of toppings or fillings , but in most of the parts of world it is typically considered as breakfast food.

History

Word pancakes appear in English in the 15th century , initially the Ancient Greeks made pancakes  called tagenites in 5th century. Tagenites were made with wheat flour, olive oil, honey, and curdled milk..

My story           

I was planning to make pancakes from long time but I was worried that my pancakes will be fluffy or not. But if you not try then how would you know. So I prepare a batter and planned to serve it in breakfast but it was flat like chapati. Then again I tried after two days, and it was quite satisfying.

How it is use to make traditionally?

Traditionally it was prepared by by eggs, milk, flour and butter.

Later it changes with variations in recipes and flavours, fillings.

Recipe for Chocolate Pancake

  • Prep time : 10 min
  • Cook time : 10 min
  • Course : Breakfast
  • Servings : 20

Ingredients:

  • Egg – 2
  • Butter – 1tbsp
  • Maida – 2cup
  • Baking powder – 1tsp
  • Salt -1/2tsp
  • Sugar – 3tbsp
  • Milk – 1.5cup
  • Vanilla essence -1/2tsp
  • Coco_powder – 3tbsp

Method:

  1. Mix maida, baking powder, salt, sugar in a bowl.
  2. Make a well in between, add eggs, milk, vanilla essence and prepare a batter.
  3. Heat a griddle , grease with butter.
  4. Pour batter using spoon, let  it cook on one side then flip it and cook the other side.
  5. Serve it with your favourite accompaniment like maple syrup, honey, whipcream, blueberries, strawberries, banana, nuts etc.

Tips:

  1. You can whisk eggs initially then add rest of the ingredients, it will results in fluffy pancakes.
  2. Do not over mix the ingredients.
  3. You can add your favourite flavours in pancake’s batter.
